Taxpayers who are required to submit an annual tax return (Obrazac DOH) for the year 2024 can do so via the ePorezna system. Those who wish to claim tax deductions through a special procedure (Obrazac ZPP-DOH) can submit their request via ePorezna, the mobile application mPorezna, or at the relevant Tax Administration office no later than February 28, 2025.
Who is required to submit Obrazac DOH?
- Taxpayers who have earned income from self-employment, trades, freelance professions, agriculture, and forestry.
- Residents who have earned income from employment as crew members on ships in international navigation.
Available tax deductions via Obrazac ZPP-DOH:
- Personal deduction for dependent family members and/or children.
- Deduction for recognized disability status.
- Tax reduction based on residence in specific regions.
- Deduction for health insurance contributions and charitable donations.
What should non-residents know about the annual tax return?
Non-residents eligible for tax deductions must submit Obrazac ZPP-DOH by the end of February if the Tax Administration does not already have all the necessary information.
When and how will tax refunds be issued?
Tax refunds are expected to begin in May 2025 and will be continuously processed for taxpayers who meet the eligibility criteria. All taxpayers who do not receive a provisional tax decision by June 30, 2025, may request its issuance by July 31, 2025.
Results of the 2023 annual tax assessment
In 2023, based on the special annual tax assessment procedure, tax refunds were issued to over 809,000 taxpayers, totaling more than 324 million euros. Young taxpayers also received significant refunds, with individuals under 25 years receiving over 71 million euros, while those aged 26 to 30 received over 93 million euros.
