Job Description

As a Payroll Specialist, you will primarily be responsible for payroll processing and maintaining employee payroll records. You will work as part of a team responsible for monitoring and applying payroll legislation and regulations related to personal income taxation, all within a relaxed and supportive working environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines, and excels in both the technical and client-service aspects of payroll administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently process payroll calculations
  • Calculate travel reimbursements and other income, and prepare JOPPD forms
  • Process sick leave reimbursements charged to the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO) and submit reimbursement claims
  • Process payroll for expatriate and posted workers
  • Monitor and apply legislation and regulations related to accounting, finance, taxation, and payroll
  • Prepare monthly payroll reports, payment records, and reimbursement reports
  • Prepare monthly and annual records of all employee payments and deductions
  • Prepare statistical reports
  • Provide payroll-related support to other departments

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education qualification
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in payroll administration or a similar role
  • Ability to independently prepare, review, and process payroll in accordance with legal and tax regulations
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and taxation of other income
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Proactive with strong teamwork skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Strong analytical thinking and a logical, systematic approach to problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Pantheon accounting software
  • Previous experience working in an international environment
  • Previous experience in an accounting firm with a focus on payroll services
